Sustainability governance

Effective and credible sustainability cannot be seen as an individual task, it is a fundamental principle that applies across the entire organisation. The Helsana Group has therefore created a governance structure to firmly establish and further develop the topic of sustainability at all levels of the organisation.

The Board of Directors, as the strategic management body of the Helsana Group, has ultimate responsibility for sustainability. Decisions related to sustainability are submitted to and ultimately made by the Executive Board via the CEO in the first instance.

Central responsibility for sustainability lies with Corporate Development (Strategy & Controlling). Helsana’s Sustainability Officer develops the strategic foundations, sustainability objectives and principles, and monitors the progress of the measures. She also acts as an interface between the individual internal sustainability specialists, the Executive Board and the Board of Directors.

Close cooperation with the specialist areas that are responsible for and drive the topic concerned in their area of activity is essential to ensure effective further development. This is why dedicated contacts, known as specialists, have been appointed in the relevant areas. In turn, the specialists are responsible for implementing and further developing all sustainability activities in their area of activity.
